Routine Vacation

I’m enjoying things flipped around it seems. To take a break from moving around all the time, I am staying in one place for 2 months and enjoying a routine. It’s nice to grocery shop, and know there are things in the kitchen that I can add to, create from. The last year has taught me to shop from scratch in many new places, picking up what essentials I’ll need for a few days or a week. These last weeks have felt novel and nice in that I have established a routine. I am at a dog sitting gig, and it’s one I’ve done before. All the better to slip into a routine, I know the neighborhood, the house and the dog, lovely Nessie the lurcher. So, I walk the dog 3 times a day, joined a gym a couple of doors down that has classes and gave me a strengthening workout, grocery shop and cook like there is no tomorrow. I’m working of course, from where I am.
The friends I made here last year have included me again as though I’ve always been around. That is a gift for sure. I feel a sense of community here in the Malvern Hills in England, 2 hours outside of London. I was even able to host my son here for a few days, cook for him, just hang out and hike in this famous walking area. It truly felt like a bit of home, just having time with him here. It is proof that home is where your heart is, it doesn’t even have to be your own home or home town, whatever that is (another story).

But airports are calling, I look forward to that feeling when I enter an airport and feel at home there also. The buzz of people going in every direction amidst the calm of others just waiting for their flights has become a comfort as well. I’m heading to Spain in a few weeks, for a retreat with other Digital Nomad Girls, excited to meet some of my tribe. I’ll give a full report from Javea, but until then, I’ll enjoy my routine vacation. 😉
